To become a member of Sussex Solar Gardens you purchase the number of solar panels you need. Based on the amount of Kwh of electricity produced by your solar panels you receive credits on your monthly electric bills and also receive federal tax credits and Solar Renewable Energy Credits. So it is expected that you will receive a full payback on your investment in about eight years.
Members must be current customers of Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative, and the maximum number of solar panels they purchase cannot exceed the amount of electricity in Kwh that they now consume annually.
Future solar gardens may be created in Sussex Rural Electric territory if an appropriate site of one eighth of an acre is located. Local residents may offer their own land or recommend a site for us to evaluate.
